Folks, looking for some advice here. Re-doing my steering with new helm, cable and even the engine pivot bracket. This is on my 16 foot Malibu 162 with Honda outboard. See the pics......is the old cable mounted on too much of an angle to the motor? In that foot from where it exits the hull its on about a 2" angle to where it mounts to the motor. Was considering 'hogging' out the hull a bit with a hole saw so it runs in a straight line....just to take any un-needed pressure on the new cable? What you think!? thanks,

It's fine. That is nothing more than a small jig-jog. The cable is making 2 90 degree bends to leave the helm and exit the port in the side of the splashwell.

good stuff, thanks! anxiously waiting all my new steering components. Only thing old will be the steering wheel itself!
