I pulled the steering cable off my outboard. I need to order the new one but am not sure of how it is measured. is it overal length including the rod, or just the length of the cable? Thanks

Re: steering cable

Teleflex now owns most of the companies that manufactured the cables, and nearly all of the cables had numbers stamped along the shields which identified each one. Look down cable about 1 to 3 feet from the helm end.

Failing that, follow this link to the Teleflex site and look up the information for the particular system that you have.

BTW, Iboats is a major retailer for the cables.

Re: steering cable

Look for part numbers on the old cable. Teleflex may have a web site to help.
