is it possible to shorten a steerig cable? the one in my boat is about 4 to 6 inches to long. it works but it hangs down in the floor and i want it up under the edge and its not very flexible.

Re: steering cable?

Can you take any slack up where the console meets the side of the boat? ie pull the 90 bend in the cable toward the bow. Can you move the console toward the bow a few inches?

The cables come in 1 foot increments. So 4-6" too long is probably better than 6-8" too short.

Also if you are transom mounted vs motor pivot tube, you can try moving to motor. That maybe more that a foot though. I'd have to go find the Teleflex sizing charts.

as said cable only in 1 ft increments. try shifting cable at console end, use tie wraps to try to hold it up.

You might try a couple of gentle undulations over its entire length.Or start high and run at a slope down to the motor.
