steering cable ?

im taking the console off of my bass tracker to re-carpet. i want to know how to take this cable off the steering box? so do i need to take off this whole cover? i was afraid to try that, thought something might fall out i couldn't get back.

Look for a hole,about 1/8 or 3/16 inch,near where the cable enters the unit. A pin pushed into that hole will release a clip inside the housing,which will allow you to turn the steering wheel and back the cable out. Cable will have to be disconnected from motor to do this. Turn wheel with one hand and pull cable with other hand.
[This is my guess,just going by how my teleflex comes apart]

that is not a Safe T quick connect. you need to remove the 2 bolts marked in red, the retain the cable, then turn the steering wheel, the cable will back out.

thanks guys! i tell ya, these forums are great when you need help. i have one for tractors, golf cart, boat, and really comes in handy. still trying to find one for women!
