steering cable

I have a 70hp evinrude 1980 mod with cable steering running down the right side ,after freeing up the cable because it would not budge using a bit of heat & hammer it .I now only have limited steering to the right and full steering to left,how do i fix this problem please.

It sounds like you need a new cable. What type of steering do you have?

good left but when i turn right moves a bit then is hard as if was full lock.

Did you have the cable out of the tilt tube?? You might have a tilt tube that is all rusted up.

yes it is all out and free got some marine type grease and put back on.tube does;nt seem to be rusty at all .think it was just dried grease and sand.

And I thought you had something new here. Got three of them in my tool box. What really works good in a salt water area is a long extended shaft 5/8" reamer.

I was referring to a company repackaging a reaming tool as a marine tool Boobie. The take a reamer, and then repackage it and say it's made for a specific function like cleaning a tube, when in reality a person can buy the same thing just about anywhere for half the price.

Sixmark, I totally agree 100% with that. If it says marine the price always goes up.
