Steering Hard

Can you grease the steering points on the lower unit on a MerCruiser Alpha 1? The Lower Unit turns tight when it is not hooked to the seering cable. I do not have power steering.<br /><br />Thanks,

Yes, there are grease fittings. Even after greasing mine was very stiff when I purchased the boat. (It had sat up for awhile). I had to heat up the lower pivot area with the "red wrench" (torch) and spray it good with penetrating oil. It helped quite a bit. Now it works fine.
