Steering Issue

I do not have a traditional setup for my steering on my boat. What I presently have is a cable going into a steering bar mounted on my transom, then to bar bolted to the outboard. To say the least the steering is not great. I really have to turn the steering wheel to turn. I am going to have a steering cable put in to replace the transom bar. My outboard is setup to receive the cable. Will this make steering the boat easier and more efficient? This is a picture of my old outboard with the transom steering.

Re: Steering Issue

Without a picture, or additional boat info, nobody can really be certain as to what you have... Most likely though, if you change to a Teleflex cable system, you'll solve all your issues. I am about to do the same thing on my Starcraft Jet. I went thru all kinds of motors, different heights, jack plates, transom elevators, etc., and finally just took the plunge and went from a 16" to a 20" transom. My old cable/rope steering is about worn out, and the Teleflex system will fix all the issues...

Post up some pics, and someone with MUCH more knowledge on this will be by to help you out.
