The first boat I ever stepped foot in is my boat I'm currently restoring. I'm at a bit of a disadvantage because I don't know whats supposed to work the way it should and what doesn't.
This boat has been sitting for 10 years before I got my hands on it to tear her apart. The steering was locked up completely. Is the steering supposed to go back and forth or is it supposed to not be able to move if your outdrive is off?
I have a rotary system steering and I had to take the cable off from the steering column instead of off the transom plate in order to take the cap off for stringer replacement.
I pulled the pin off of the steering arm and detached it from the outdrive steering arm. The outdrive moved back and forth but the steering cable is still locked up.
If anybody knows which parts I should look at first to get back on track, please steer me in the right direction. Get it? steer?!? Couldn't resist.
Basically: Is the steering ever supposed to be locked up?
