Steering linkage merc 45 hp

I have a 1961 Merc 45 hp motor, that I need help finding a pic or parts list of the steering linkage that fits on the motor.
I have a Teleflex steering assembly and cable. The serial number of motor is 1308416.

On some of these engines the tilt tube was to small for the newer steering systems to go thru and the tube must be changed, here is the steering link, you should be able to find one on ebay. Mercury Boat Steering Link Arm, 60-120HP - T & R Marine SLA-950F - iboats

Well while cleaning out the tilt tube I realized that the dia of the hole in the tilt tube is 1/2" and I need one with a 5/8 dia to except the steering rod end.
Now I am wondering if there is something else I might be able to do to hook this up.

You need a clamp block Clamp Block, Steel Corrosion Resistant - Teleflex Marine SA27055P - iboats

Just get a tilt tube from a donor engine, all you need to do is check for length the 35 Hp up are all about the same. Inless you got a $100 to waste, plus the tilt tube installation is much easier to use when tilting the engine up and down.

Do you really think I could find a tilt tube that would replace the one that came in this 1961 merc that only has a 1/2" dia hole, that would fit my motor and have a5/8" dia hole. Got any Idea how much newer motor it would have to be.

I found this pic of a merc that looks just like mine. If you look close you will see what looks like an other tilt tube hooked to the existing on with brackets. I appears to be out front of the motor a little ways. How do you think that might work.

That was the original fix and was a ride guide part, have you looked for a newer tilt tube most any marina has them on donor engines. In answer to the what year question 1966 or newer a 35.40,45,50 2 and 4 cyl,65 and 70 3 cyl should fit

I mocked up a through te splash well for the sa27254 teleflex 90 deg.
My question is this. Does the steering cable when hooked up limit the travel of the motor so that when turned the fully in one direction the motor will not hit the mounting bracket that attaches the motor to the boat.
