I have a 1989 Johnson 175 hp. I have the the service manual but it doesn't say anything about what size bolt threads into the hole on the front of the motor where the steering linkage hooks up to from the steering cable. I repowered from a Force (Mercury) and that bolt was too big. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Usually what I do in such a situation is either measure the hole diameter and go from there to a hardware store OR take any one of the bolts I have laying around and see what fits and then use that for my reference size... If don't have a good supply of bolts, then the tape measurement would be the next best thing. And since bolts, both SAE and Metric, are standardized, you will find the appropriate size with a measurement at most any hardware store. JMHO!
