I have a cmc tilt and trim unit attached to my evenrude outboard, and my problem is with the offset back from the transom about 5 inches, the steering cable must exit at an extreme angle causing me some concern about it binding, and or chafing. Is there a solution out using some sort of offset steering tube to allow the cable to exit normally?

The steering needs to be free from any restriction through the full range of movement left and right. In general terms the outer cable is very stiff but the inner is quite flexible, if the outer cable can be routed than the inner will be fine. I’d like to see a pic to be sure though.

Thanks for the input paulie, I have it working fine, I'm just looking for a more elegant solution, one that doesn't have the cable at such an extreme angle. I would like to to exit out at a right angle like an ordinary application.
