Steering play

Is there a (moderately accessable) method to tighten the steering arm play at the gimbal/swivel on an 888 302 Ford Mercruiser Sterndrive?

If you find one let me know. Mine doesn't have play in the arm, but in the cable somehow. I'll probably replace the cable soon, but I think the problem is more with the connection somehow.
