Steering Play

Hello, I have a 2003 Sea Ray 175srx with a Mercruiser 3.0 and Alpha 1 gen 2 stern. Steering seems to have allot of play in it, when i am out on the water it's tough just to go straight, boat will start to vear to the left or right and I am constantly having to steer to correct it, this is only at wakeless speed. This is my first I/O I have owned 2 boats with outboards and yes there has always been some correction needed, this however seems very excessive.

Ayuh,.... More than likely, yer experiencin' V-hull wander,....
Less operator input usually helps,....

To check for slop in the steerin', take 3 people, one at the wheel, one at the drive, 'n another eyeballin' every fittin', 'n connection in the steerin' system,....
One holds while the other shakes, then the opposite,...
