Well I was able to replace my steering cable/wheel/rotary assembly successfully, had to make a console, quite a chore getting holes drilled exactly correct without drifting a tad (did someone say pilot hole). I did find the hardware for attaching the cable to the transom doesn't fit the Pre Tech cable, so I guess I'll be running around town looking for something that fits (if anyone knows the diameter and thread size for Pre Tech cables let me know)

For some reason no source seems to be able to identify the correct term for this part, which attaches the steering cable to the transom, even called iboats no avail; I'm sure Pretech must make a transom kit for their cables but I haven't been able to find it, after installing the kit I found the cable does not fit this piece of hardware, if you happen to know the dimensions that Pretech cables use please post it, thanks:)

Well sometimes the god of ships smiles down on you-after looking at prices for a transom mount (>$100 wow!) and deciding to make one myself, flash a lightbulb comes on I decide to check my other 'project' to see if by chance that mount mates up-yes! I know some of you out there understand that moment:) This mount is a real nice heavy duty swivel type that is gonna be a great addition

With some adjustment got the steering system in place, with a transom bracket I pulled off my cuddy project, had to drill new holes in transom for this bracket. I was suprised during adjustment to discover that this sytem does not have enough play to fully turn the motor completely left or right, the engine will turn several inches more left and right further than the cable/rotary system will allow, not sure if I need a different system or if this is normal, anyways it is not enough for me to worry about at the moment, all seems to be functional otherwise, we'll see how it goes on it's virgin voyage tomorrow
