Hello. I have a 96 bayliner 3.0 alpha I gen II without power steering. On the trailer the steering seems fine. In the water under load it takes two hands and is very stiff. I removed the cable from the wheel and the wheel moves fine and hooked it back up. I removed the pin from the cable/outdrive and the steering seems fine. The outdrive will turn by hand very easily. So I'm thinking I'm just going to replace the cable. How do I properly remove it from the outdrive? Do I take out the big bolts the hold the square thing tbe cable goes through or unscrew the cable from where it threads to the outdrive? Thanks.

Ayuh,.... Loosen the Big nut on the cable, 'n pull the pin outa it's end,...

It's supposed to then slide right out,...
but, I'm guessin' it's corroded inside the aluminum tube, causin' yer problem,...

Update: I removed the cable and if you lay it out flat its fine. If you simulate the 90 degree turn on the cable where it meets the outdrive it stiffens up. So the cable is worn and I ordered a new one. Thanks for the help.
