My friend just got a 1970 starcraft with a 65hp merc on it.
The problem: His 65hp outboard wont turn. We took off the cable and the cable moves free when you turn the wheel. So the problem is in where the motor swivels on the bracket. We added grease into the zerk fitting and grease came out the top but not the bottom. We can turn the motor back and forth with a little muscle so it isnt completely stuck but not loose enough for the steering to turn it.
So should I apply heat from a small torch to the bottom area to loosen up the stuff inside? Is that my only option?
