Steering Stuck

I have a cable steering system and it's stuck. When I removed the linkage arm, the moter moves freely. I then disconnected the steering cable from the motor. What I expected was for the entire arm to come through the tilt housing. But I was able to pull the arm from the cable side out of the housing (partially anyway, until I ran out of room), but the other side of the arm stayed in the tilt housing. I can't remove the linkage side of the arm from the housing.

Does this arm come in two pieces? Is it possible the arm is broken? Do I need a new steering cable? Any suggestions how I can free the stuck arm?

------------------
Thanks,
KF

Re: Steering Stuck

The cable is stuck in the tube. If you can break the cable loose you will be able to remove it. Use a good penetrating fluid and place a wood block on the shaft and carefully hit it to break it loose. You can try heat but be careful with grease and gas ect in the area. Once out you should replace the tube with a stainless one to prevent a repeat performance.
Good luck!
