I am replacing the rusted out cable and pulley steering system on my 1966 Duratech Orion runabout, what would be the best replacement steering system to go with?
Thank you for your help?

Ayuh,... What's yer Budget,..??

A simple helm, 'n cable from Teliflex should be under a couple Hundred....

Custom Hyd. runs considerably more....

Re: Steering systems

I just put a Teleflex rack and pinion NFB system on mine. I have no complaints about it at all. Expecially compared to the almost frozen cable I replaced.

Look at the varous Teleflex systems and it will give you a good idea of what you need depending on size and hp. My boat was set up for the rack so that's what I stayed with. I don't know how they compare to the rotary systems. Hydralic is supposed to be the bomb but will set you back quite a few bills.
