My boat has a standard rack and pinion with steering tube arrangement. A while back I posted about the lubrication for it, and learned to use corrosion resistant grease for the piston within the tilt trim tube. Is OMC triple guard grease good for this ? It seems a bit thick. How about that white lithium grease? What is best? Thanks,<br />Scott

Re: Steering tube piston lubrication

If you go for a marine grease (which is important as automotive grease does not resist the marine environment as well), any should do. There are a number to choose from, personally I'd look for one containing MoS2, Quicksilvers 2-4-C with Teflon or equal. For this use it is merely a matter of protecting and keeping easy than actually lubing, but I'd take the mentioned type to have a good all purpose grease even for other uses (cables, links, levers etc.)
