Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you have done a alignment on a inboard boat before? I have a 2003 ski centurion concourse with the mercruiser power option. My steering wheel is off 180 degrees to the left when going straight. Before i bought boat from my uncle he had the steering cable replaced. i think the installer just didnt do it right as i found alot of deck panels left not screwed in and some loose hardware. the boat has only 200 hrs on it and the rutter shows no signs of damage from hitting anything.

Re: steering wheel alignment

If it were off 180 it wouldn't be left or right it would be upside down

There are often 3 keyways on the steering shaft (where the wheel mounts) that are each 120 deg apart (for a full circle of 360 deg)

Also look for fine adjustment at the rudder attachment point and last, if it is a rotary helm you can remove the cable from the helm, rotate the helm the amount to the left or right that it needed before you took the cable out and put the cable back in.... I had to do the last part half a dozen times on dad's tracker when I put a new helm on it till the wheel was "perfect" underway to make him happy.
