I own a 2001 Chaparral 180 SSE. At some point I lost the steering wheel cap and was wondering a good web site to go to, to get a replacement. It doesn't have to be a factory one either. And are these a universal fit or make and model specific?

your only chance is call Chaparral or find one on ebay or buy another steering wheel. other than the pastern to mount the steering wheel to helm, there is nothing else "universal"

Check google images for boat steering wheels, with a bit of luck you might find the original manufacturer.

Years ago we use to buy steering wheels for our hot rods. And they used simple caps for the horn buttons. Of course that was way before air bags. So maybe you could look at that source as well. JMHO

The bummer about boats is that the manufacturer isn't required the produce parts for previous models like car manufacturers are. Even boats just a few years old can be hard to get some parts and pieces not engine related. EBay is where I would keep a look out. I might try the Chaparral parts dealer known as cecils marine which is the go to for chap owners for parts. It's funny, the only piece I kept off of my previous 2003 chap was the steering wheel cap as the boat was totaled but is wall art now in my garage.
