Are all steering wheels for boats pretty standard. 13 3/4 inch width and 3/4 inch column connector?

....in my experience, as far as the smaller pleasure craft are concerned, the 3/4" keyed taper is standard. The wheel's diameter would be determined by the style and application. :)

Re: Steering Wheels for boats.

Just put in a new teleflex helm and went with the recommendation from the shop as to the wheel that would be a good match (17' boat). The wheel turned out to be a little smaller than I thought so next time I would look at wheel options before ordering. The old wheel was a nice stainless/teak that was not a key-type and was quite a bit larger. Liked it but not for this system. I guess small is in these days - it does turn the 90 hp motor nicely/quickly and is not a thin one re the grip.

Re: Steering Wheels for boats.

So I got the steering wheel I wanted is there a standard schematic on how to take off the old and put the new one on? Just would like to go off a diagram of something. As my Sig says I have a 2010 185BR. I am pretty sure the stock wheel is a Dino steering wheel and the one I am replacing it with is a Dino with the same dimensions. So the question is what screw or bolts do I need to take off to get the stock one off and then I am assuming I can use the same hardware to put the new one on.
