Steering woes

Ok, new steering question...

I am looking at some new steering kits and notice that they are quite different from mine. The new ones only have 1 rack, mine has 2. Not only 2, but one seems to be an newer add-on to the other one...

Anybody know why this is?

Just looks like a dual cable rack steering system.

Yeah looks like a dual rack. Are you looking at rotary steering systems or rack systems in your search? Rotary systems definately look different than the rack systems.

Do you have 1 or 2 outboards?

i have that same set up and my steering locked up. i purchased just one cable and found out that they were both bad. i should have just replaced with a new dual cable system and helm.
those look like detmar racks (detroit marine)
