Hi...I need some expert help. I just bought a 1984 Evinrude 115 and I am stumped on one thing. the steering link between the cable and the motor...it looks like the one from my old motor is too short for the new one. Is this part unique to each motor or is there one where you can adjust the length?

Go on the teleflex web site and see if there are different lengths. I think they are pretty universal, however. I have one that is adjustable in length and another that is non-adjustable
