steering

I have a 1986 cajun bass boat with a 1986 mariner 150h.p. motor turns fine at idle but on plane the motor turns great when going right but try and turn left and i have to muscle it. I have tried changing the angle on the little fin over the prop and i also lubed the steering rod the only thing i havent done is pull the cable completly off the boat and out of the protective coating. Any suggestion would be appreciated i know most people will say replace the cable but right now i dont have money for that.

If it only does this when running you have steering torque... try trimming up a tad..

Same setup with 84 stratos same issue. Only option I came to is to upgrade to hydro steering
