golly, first of all, what type and size of the boat and engine. What type steering setup. Without that info we are just guessing. However, it sounds like you could have a steering cable that could be broken and at low speed it is able to still move the engine. But at higher speeds there is more torque applied and it can't move the additional force. But that is only my guess without additional info. JMHO!

the boat is 14 foot, engine is a 25hp and its on telflex remotes, the clicking sound is comeing from behind the steering wheel

Well that surely sounds like the steering assembly is slipping and probable needs replaced. I say take it apart and see. Either way, you can't boat that way. It isn't safe. JMHO!

Howdy, golly.

Usually steering helms aren't repairable. When they go bad, it's normally the box or cable. With the clicking sound, it appears to be the helm. You can buy a complete new steering system for little more than the cost of just a cable. Stick your head under the dash to see what type you have, rotary or rack and pinion.

It would also be a good idea to lube the steering swivel on the motor.

iboats has both types in complete system packages with a helm and cable. You can save 5% by using the FORUM5 code at checkout or telling the customer service rep.
