Steers hard

OK, got a 1998 SX-M, with a 135 Volvo, steering is hard, cable end is greasy and shimy, what in the out-drive could make it hard, my stupid manual shows grease fittings, but mine looks like a sealed bearing, what to do, no power steering.

First thing i would do is unhook the cable at the transom end and see if the problem is in the cable.

Is it hard to steer all the time or just when underway?

Ayuh,... Agreed,.... Isolate the Problem, Then fix it...

steers hard all the time, I see no grease fittings on drive, are some sealed bearing, gona take the cable off tonight, but I am pretty sure it's the drive that is stiff. thanks all.
