well, i have a 1959 10hp evinrude. runs great. i was going to change my lower unit seals and noticed that the gears made a grinding sound when the drive shaft was turned. my pinion gear was chipped badly =( the drive shaft had some play side to side so i figured that the bronze bushing was gone. no good lower unit =( since it can't be replaced?

found a 1960 10hp on craigslist =) the motor caught a ring? it locked up but not it's free. the block is toast because the idiot tried drilling a broken bolt out and did a horrible job. he also broke the head in 2 pieces. the parts are all good on it though =) no play in the lower unit and the drive shaft will actually come out lol. mine won't come out of the pinion gear. for only 50 bucks! and! it has a fuel pump so i can sell my pressure tank!

how much would a good functioning pressure tank go for?

i'm going to redo the seals in the new used lower unit and check it out

exchange some parts and go =)

only thing bad with the motor i bought is the guy painted EVERYTHING! the flywheel recoil starter and carb were painted lol! but he said it rain so everything is good lol? maybe. good parts motor

what's the difference between the a 1960 and 1959 10hp?

upgraded my motor to a fuel pump for only 50 bucks =)

$50 for a parts motor sounds pretty good in my book.
I think you could recoup it on the pressure tank,
but aren't good ones hard to come by?
May be worth keeping if that's the case.

hmmmm, i never really thought about that?

i guess for now ill keep it but i won't be buying another motor that requires a pressure tank.
