I could really use some help.

I have a perko off/1/both/2 switch. I have a starting battery and a deep cycle in parallel. negs wired together and starting battery pos to terminal 1 and deep cycle pos to terminal 2

should this allow charging of both batts while underway?

Should I run the +12V wire from the stereo to terminal 2 of the switch?

If I do will the stereo come on if I start the boat in with switch in position 1?

Or should I attach +12V to common?

where should I attach the ignition wire from the stereo? to the ignition switch on the in the dashboard? where?

If I do this will the stereo work only if I have the key in?

If I hook ignition wire to the +12V wire is this OK?

I understand to run starter on motor to common on switch and ground of motor to the neg of the starting battery.

I see a lot of diagrams that say run the DC panel to terminal 2 on the switch. I assume there is a common wire to run to this from the DC panel but what is it?

Again, if I start in position 1 on the swtich will my horn, nav lights, anchor lights, livewell pump, fish finder, work?

basically I want to be able to start in position 1, run the boat around and if we decide to stop, turn the switch to position 2 to run the stereo off that with the key out of the ignition.

I assume that I don't really need run the other electronics on battery 2 but I may be wrong.

FYI I have a 1992 pontoon boat with 90HP Force 1992.

sorry if this is confusing but any help would be appreciated.

Re: stereo hook up, other electrical

The purpose of the switch is to be able to turn everything off. If you connect loads to either the 1 or 2 terminals you run the risk of leaving something on. Therefore all loads except your bilge pump should come off the COM terminal as thats the "feed" for your electrical system. Your accessories will then run on either 1, 2, or both -- whatever you have selected. Start on 1, run as you please. Park. Switch to 2. Get ready to go switch back to 1 or BOTH. Both batteries will charge. At the dock, set to OFF. You should have a POS and NEG wire running to the fuse panel. The POS wire also goes to the COM terminal on the switch. The NEG terminal goes to the NEG terminal on either battery since you have them tied together. Your stereo probably has two leads that require 12V. You probably don't want that wired so the key must be on to run the stereo so it can go directly to the fuse box. The second lead is the station memory which must be energized all the time. That lead would have to go all the way back and tied to either battery POS. It draws very little current so it can run off either battery.
