Stern bracket pin

I saw on another thread that since I have PTT, it isn't nessessary to even have the pin installed since you're not on it much anyway(the one that limits how far down the motor will tilt).<br />So I guess I can take it out and use the full travel of the tilt system?<br /><br />1983 Johnson Seahorse 90hp V4 on a 17'Wellcraft Airslot<br /><br />Dave

Dave Abrahamson,<br /><br />I wouldn't. That pin is there for a reason-to limit the travel. <br /><br />If you do not have enough "tuck under" I would investigate shimming the engine with shims from Bob's Machine Shop.<br /><br /> http://www.bobsmachine.com/main.asp

You can leave it out -- no problem. The motor rests on the trim rams anyway. And with an Air Slot I'm sure you dont keep the motor trimmed all the way in anyway. <br /><br />Good luck!
