Prior to Hurricane Ivan I kept my boat on a lift. The lift was destroyed by the hurricane and I am now keeping the boat in a wet slip. I had the boat repowered this summer including two new stern drives. My question is; when the boat is in the slip should I raise the stern drives out of the water or leave them in the down position?

Thanks.

The full up position is not good for the rubber bellows and I dont think you can actually get the o/d out of the water.Just a little of it breaks the surface of the water and thats where the zinc skeg is that you need to submerge for protection.I would say to vary where you leave it but never in full up or full down.Charlie

Most people, at the marinas here in New Jersey, leave them down (salt and fresh water). Be sure to check the zincs frequently, especially in salt water.

Full down, mainly for the bellows stretching issue.
