It's an Adobe .pdf file you download to your computer. Then you just open it and you can make it any size you want.

165 1978 - 1981 4890460 and up

the only thing i am seeing is that i guess its telling me my stern is a 165 not much on if its a pre alpha or anything

That's because there's no such thing as a 'Pre-Alpha' outdrive. If you follow 'Don S's suggestion, under the Mercruiser section is a doc on identifying the outdrive models.

For example, my outdrive is an '898' model, which is an MC-1 model outdrive.

Re: stern drive?

You can't look up old drives by serial number alone. Had you posted what your engine year, and type was, then it would have been a lot easier to answer your question.
If this is the boat you have in your profile, 74 cavarelle beracuda IV,81 Arrowglass, i/o Merc 250cid 165hp, then yes you have a MC-1 drive, and it should be a 1.65 ratio.
After all that, what is it you are looking for or trying to fix?

PS: No such thing as a "Pre Alpha" that's after market speak for "Not sure what you call it"

Re: stern drive?

It's an MC-1 (short form of 'Mercruiser 1 drive'), use the serial number whenever you buy parts on-line, or go to a dealer. Avoid places that use the term 'Pre-Alpha', it means that don't know what they are talking about and you will most likely end up with the wrong parts....
