Stern Light Not working, have power and new bulb

I have a 2005 bass boat and the stern light just stopped working. I replaced the bulb, even though it looked ok. I used a circuit tester and it lit when I touched it to the male prong that goes into the light. Could this be a grounding issue? Is this strictly related to my light fixture? I don't know what to do next other than spend $25 on a new light.

If you have power to it I would definitely be checking the ground connection. Even a small amount of corrosion can make something not work right. My guess would be more in the pole holder rather than the pole itself. Good luck, I hate electrical stuff.

I put the circuit tester directly on its respective pieces of the prongs (which go into the light). This would mean I have ground and power to my light, I think? This nails it down to the light. Does that make sense. I hate electrical, too. About to disassemble my light fixture...

Hook to a good ground with your circuit tester and check for 12v+. Hook to a good 12v+ and check for ground. Don't use the prongs as base points. If all is ok, then your bulb isn't good. Or isn't in tightly.

If it's an LED bulb, it is polarity dependent. Try turning the bulb around 180?.

Not an led. It appears it is the fixture. Thanks for the tips fireman and choppy.
