New project...Journey II is underway. I removed flooring to access fuel tank for inspection and as always happens with 26 year old boats I found a few things needing attention. She's going to get new stringers and a transom. Actually things were not real bad but "while I'm there" I might as well fix it. Exploritory surgery revealed wet stringers and a wet transom. Not soaked but wet non the less and showing signs of rot rearing it's ugly head. So on to the questions...What is the best way to maintain the flatness of the transom where the gimbal ring mounts to it? What is the maximum transom thickness for a merc I outdrive?
Thanks,
Mike
