I have twin Indmar 350 GM vortec engines (1999's) with Holley 4V carbs (I'm guessing they are 4160's)in a 34 foot ocean boat. As the boat is a fuel hog, I stay out of the secondaries. However, on occassion, when I test the secondaries they are stuck. They are vacuum actuated. I can free them up with lots of carb cleaner and manipulation, but within a few weeks, they are stuck again. The cooling system is closed through the manifolds with the raw water introduced into the risers. Inevitably, some salt water vapor will rise back through the open valves and ultimately the carbs on engine shut down. I'm fairly sure this is what leads to the sticking. Does anyone know of a way to prevent the sticking or a better solvent to use to free them up when they do stick? I've tried spraying the butterfly shafts with BoeShield but it didn't help.
