noticed the other day that my tach was sticking.first run it does fine.sometimes after I stop it will be stuck.if it sticks at 2500 and I run at a speed that usually is 4000 the tach will go to 6500.then it may go back to zero when I stop again...it seems to be pretty random.it does seem to stay accurate, just requires a little math & paynig attention to where it was stuck.a few times I got worried when I looked down & noticed it was pinned on 8000...then I realized it had stuck on 5000....any ideas whats causing this & how to fix it???the speedometer seems to work fine.

Re: sticking tachometer

You failed to mention what make and model engine this was happening too but on some engines, if the rectifier goes south, the tach will start doing hokey stuff. How's the battery? Is it staying charged up? If not, I'd look at the rectifier.

c/6

Hooty
