1995 3.0 mercruiser LX. It seems as though my choke isn't functioning properly. I've had some issues on the water. The choke doesn't want to close back up. I read in another forum to clean the choke shaft with carb cleaner. Do I need to disassemble it from the housing or how should I do that

Re: Sticky choke

Once the engine is shutdown the choke coil (heated bi-metal spring inside a housing) tries to close the choke plate. If the throttle is fully closed, then even when the engine goes cold, the choke will not fully close, until you release the tension from the linkages. You do that by opening the throttle slightly.
