1979 rude 70. Not trying to buy trouble or anything but...I have a clear, slightly sticky substance, not a lot, just a thin coating - a little bit splattered on the powerpack, a little more on the wiring terminal block, a little bit on the rectifier. Quite a bit on the underside of the top ignition coil. Based on the pattern, there's no way it could be from the stator.
No symptoms of any kind, motor's running like new.
It's been there since I acquired the motor via gift back in the fall of '03, and I'm pretty sure there's been no new additions. So I'm assuming it was something that broke & got fixed.
My question I guess is more theoretical, or philosophical, or prophylactic, for future reference...can somebody clue me in about what it might be? Like, something melted & dripping due to a hot top cylinder?
Compression = 125,125,130, unchanged from 3 1/2 years ago. Plugs = champ QL77JC4, identical in appearance, slightly oily, no carbon, golden brown insulator, gray ceramic. Had NGK when I got it, I tossed 'em.
thanks!
