I have just bought a 1990 280 sea ray sundancer
c/w twin 4.3l mercruisers.
Ist project on my agenda is freeing up the sticky throttle. Being new to the boat and marina I's love to be able to get into my slip without bouncing off of everyone elses boat.
The shifter is a quicksilver c/w trim adjustment.
She shifts in and out of gear quite well but gets to be jerky with fine acceleration and deceleration. Is the cable a part that should be lubricated? or just replaced, or should I be looking elsewere also? Thanks

Re: Sticky throttle

The cable is probably bad. Just replace it. There isn't any (way that I know of) to lubricate them all the way through. Sharp bends are usually the biggest problem along with having the cables tied tight within the first 2 feet of the control. The cables have to have room to move and change directions.

Re: Sticky throttle

Thanks Don I'll check to see if the cables have been tied too closely and be prepared to change the cables
