I use the Johnson as a kicker and it is excellent.

It connects to the main motor by one of the adjustable steering rod kits that was installed by the local Suzuki dealer.

No problem steering the big motor-Suzuki - by itself.

When I connect up the kicker, the Johnson seems a bit hard to turn. No squeals, squeaks, etc. I've greased every fitting I could find (2) on the steering tube.

Is there a friction control that I can adjust?

Thanks,

Ed

Diggerdan17:

Thanks for the tip. I found a small half-inch nut hidden in some old grease under the "lift" plate on the front of the motor.
Cleaned it up and then loosened the nut. Works like a charm.

Ed
