Still Poor Spark!

20 HP 1980? 2 cyclinder.

Replaced both coils (at the flywheel) and the switch box and still have a "faint" spark on both plugs and will not kick over/start.

Could this be a bad "trigger switch"??

DVA volts at both coil less than 105 volts

Thanks
John

Got to get this thing running this weekend. My 5 year old is counting on it as it is a new small boat and have not gone the 1st trip yet.

pls help!

Re: Still Poor Spark!

John, because the trigger is firing the box and the box fires the plugs but has poor spark, I still question the stator as it produces the voltage that runs the high voltage portion of the system, Have you taken a voltage output on the stator with the DVA

Do not have colors u specify but according to instruction I found, for the stator (orange to ground) which like you stated should be 180v +.

I only have 90volts.

I just replaced the "stator coils" and there really is not anything else to replace.

There are no magnets as it is incorporated in the flywheel itself.

Could the flywheel be aligned improperly??

Does this make sense??

Thanks

Orange wire to grnd at cranking speed I get 105 volts when I should be getting 180V +.

Re: Still Poor Spark!

Sounds like the problem John. low voltage in-low voltage out
