still wont start

thank to all the i boat for helping me out but im still missing something.i got the last requirement to start the motor spark to the plugs.anywhere else i good look for. another thing if i shift to forward where is the pivot point where my interupt swtch suppose to be just curious. remember in forward or reverse looking at the switch in those two position. 470 mercruiser 4 cylinder 1983.

Ayuh,... It takes Fuel, Fire,+ Compression, All at the Right Time, for a motor to Run....

The shift switch should be Centered All the time, except when shifting From forward or reverse To neutral...

ok i will check the compression how much psi is good,and let me get this straight the switch only works when i shift to forward or reverse. ok but as soon as i have it in gear do the switch pivot back to the center spring loaded while im still in gear.

Nope,... Only when coming OUT of gear,+ Only IN the water....
At ALL other times, it's centered....

150psi is a pretty Good #....
Less than 100psi is a Junk motor...

so maybe that my problem when i have in forward or reverse the switch is compressed. if you say that allways in the center the roller in the v area my switch is cutting my ignition. because my motor wont start and switch is not in the center. but how if my switch is in the center in neutral.any way im confuse so the switch cut the engine half a second and return back to the center while im in gear correct.

Ayuh,... By your description,... The lower shift cable is Junk,+ needs Replacing...

how could i verify that my shift cable is bad. i had the motor running about twenty min went to shift engine died wont start back up. so the switch return back to center always no matter what gear your in.can it be my interupt switch. i tried everything and you giving me good result another thing i installed the outdrive and read the manual shifter in forward the only way outdrive would be installed. is there something i did wrong installing it.

i just sat in my boat and look at my motor i just shifted to forward looking at the switch and it does not move i moved it reverse and looked at the switch and still did not move. i been on line with all the i boat out there so far my knowleged even forward or reverse the swtch move half a second and pivot back to the center on the v area. anyone out there is that wright. let me know if im correct, do any one have picture or video how it work . maybe that my problem my engine wont start motor was running for about 15min went to shift engine speed and died help me.

You have to look WHILE you are moving the shifter.

i did it dont move but if i move it by hand it move and return back to the center
