Someone recommended me to use a 3 blade stainless prop on my boat. He said it would work good due to the good amount of cupping on the this prop. I can pick up a stilleto really cheap, but I don't want to buy it unless its going to be a contender for working. How do these props compare to each other?

Re: Stilleto VS Solas prop

Please read the stickies at the top of the page.
We need a whole lot more info.Stilleto is a ss prop the Sloas may be either dependng on the model
there are al props with cup.ss is not a cureall they will generally out perform al but not necessarily by a lot.To some folks the 2 to 3 times the cost of al is not worth it.
Please give us your present boat type, prop size, and the max rpm and speed, what you are trying to do what problems etc all the details you can supply.

Re: Stilleto VS Solas prop

Both Stiletto and Solas make ss and aluminum props but we'll assume from your post we're trying to compare ss props. Both companies make good ss props. As for cup, there's lots of styles and placement of cup. Cup can provide bow lift, stern lift or overall lift. Cup is used to control water flow over a blade area. Rake angle also has a lot to do with how a given prop performs. Both companies make ss props with cup for different kinds of hulls. Don't try to compare one ss prop made for a pontoon to another made for a planing hull. Overall we've had better luck with Stilettos but Solas makes a good prop, as mentioned.

Re: Stilleto VS Solas prop

Steelspike, I have a thread open already with all my info and such. I am not trying to go that far with this thread, just wanted to know if the two props are comparable.

I am talking comparing SS to SS. I know there are a lot of variable that go with these. I was just wondering if the characteristics of these two props are similar or if they are two completely different animals. Just wondering the difference if you were to go out with a boat and try these two props on the same boat, same day, how they would compare. If I understand there may not be a sure fire answer, just wanted some opinions or experiences if someone has compared them. Thanks guys.
