Would anyone happen to know what size and pitch prop would come on a 1975 115 HP Johnson outboard, Model # 115ESL75E? I guess it would depend on the boat it is mounted on , which happens to be a 16' Grady-White runabout. I cannot see any numbers on the prop that is on it now, but I know that this is the original. Would like to have a spare. Any help would be appreciated.:)

You could always have it measured by a prop shop. There is no such thing as a stock prop as the motor manufacturers have no idea what boat their motor will wind up on.

If you remove the propeller and examine the hub, you should find the manufacturer's part number stamped on it.

The 1975 115 was shipped with a propeller, I believe it was a 13 X 19, 3 blade aluminum. Check the specifications sheet in your manual.

That is what I have on my 1985 115 Johnson on a 16 1/2 Foot tri haul open bow. Nice hole shot speed but not so great for towing .

As suggested the 75 brochure indicates it came with a 13 X 19 al. prop.
with a 15,17,19,21,23 al. prop available along with various ss and bronze props.

Thanks for the info ezeke. I do not have the owners manual for this motor. The prop that is on there now is the one that was on when I bought the bought 15 years ago. It is in decent shape, but I would like to have a spare.

Hey Tim, when you go shopping for a new/spare prop you need to know that the blade design has changed significantly between 1975 and 2010. The new BRP props will not turn the same RPM in the same pitch as your 1975 model. It is important that your spare prop (and your current prop) are allowing your motor to run it's ideal RPM at WOT.

My advice is to post all the relevant data in a new thread and get some opinions from the members here on what to try out.

Basic data needed is posted in the "sticky" at the top of this forum by JB. Also hwsiii has a more detailed form that you can fill out.

Cheers
