i have a 17' boat edson avaint with a yamaha pro-v 150 1990 on it......had it rebuild about 4 years ago by yamaha..had it out last week and i hit the propeller with a rock and now the boat is shutting down after a 5 minute run. The motor is going into alarm mode of which is shutting down some of the cylinders so it dont over heat. The Alarm is really loud, just wondering is that the propeller being hit would change the pitch and letting the rpms go over its rating, because it is over 5600 rpm a little when wot and also what is the standard propeller for this motor, i really want to get a new one but dont know what is the best all around propeller for the boat without over revving the motor.......please let me know thanks...

No 5600 wouldn't trip an alarm but if it was getting hot it may attempt to slow the motor.
I would be inclined to think you damaged more than the prop.
There isn't a standard prop the prop would be selected based on the application
and likely the typical load and activity. The prop numbers should be near the base of the blades or under the prop nut.The prop can be repaired. And you shouldn't run it too much till repaired.

I agree with steelespike, no such thing as, stock or standard prop for that motor. And yes, most likely you did some other damage to cause the alarm.
