Well, we dammed our spring and we now have a nice big pond, about 10 ft.x20 ft. and about 6 ft. deep in some parts. We're looking at putting fish in there, but don't know what. Hubby would like catfish, but is open to anything that will take care of keeping the pond clean. The pond is not sealed or anything, so has dirt and grass bottom. Anyone have any ideas?
I've checked out hatcheries out here, but they mainly deal with salmon, steelhead and trout.
Any help would be appreciated.
Bassy :)

Check with the local conservation department. I know here in VT they will stock a pond for free but the drawback is you must let people fish.

If you get some catfish and some others you will have a nice setup.

Bob

I hate to redirect you to another site Bassy but its for the best. This place here is the Iboats of fish and ponds. They are real nice over there also. Try 'em out and you'll like 'em.

Pond Boss

Personally I would stay away from catfish entirely

we are trying to get them out of our small lake 14 acres. They stir the bottom up and keep the lake cloudy. same thing with carp....

The key to a clean lake is balance...plants and animals...

Just a hint for the marshy sides, plant impatients, in fact you can plant them right into the water!
