reminds me..... About 13 yrs ago, my sisters car was stolen sometime during the night. She found out when she tried to go to work at 6am. She called the Philadelphia police and made a report. I decided to look for the car in the ghettos. after about 2 hrs of looking, I found it. The door was pried back and the ignition was popped- The screwdriver was still on the passenger seat. I ran to a payphone (which was 100 ft away from the car) to call my sis and saw a cop in the meantime. The police didnt have any record of it, nor did they want to investigate. The police told me to just get it back! All in alll, it ended well, but i just wish they would have done something...

Sounds like the cops we have here,Too bad the victim did not get to extract a little justice from the crooks before the cops got their hands on him.

On a smaller version of this, my car got broken into and a few items were taken including my gps unit.... I watched craigslist for a few weeks and contacted a few adds that had the same model for sale but no luck, my gps never showed up.

A dozen hidden officers moved in with guns drawn

Never know, you might get whacked with a paddle, and let's bring the second shift too, there's donuts right around the block!

So it takes a dozen cops with guns drawn, to tame these canoe crooks.:D

Kudo's to the citizen who actually did the work!!

It's a small town about the size of my town:
A. they had sheriffs help
B. Assistance from the next town (or three towns)
C. Guns drawn...They know the redneck criminal mind!

Besides, Sheetz sells Krispi-creme:):):)

Once after some thieves got some stuff from my garage the cops said/"If they come back, call us " I said i sure would BUT while waiting for them to arrive I didnt plan on just watching them out the window as they carried off more . The shooting would be over with before they got there so they would need to bring an ambulance with them. Cops weren't impressed

A few months ago two auto dealers were broken in. The thieves stole all of the tools and test equipment. A week later, all the stuff was on CL. Sheriffs dept investigated. Presently the thieves are now on CL as in Criminal Lockup!

Re: Stolen stuff returned...caught by victim

Reminds me of a story I read a few years ago about a guy in NYC who was tired of coming home from work to find his apartment ransacked.

He bought a Doberman Pincher to protect the apartment. Turned out the dog would let anybody into the apartment - ANYBODY!

But...he wouldn't let them out! The guy came home to find a burglar cowering in a corner of the room and the dog sitting in front of him, watching every move he made.

Called the cops and that was that.

The article said this had happened twice, then the word apparently got out and he had no more break-ins.
