Storage issues

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and what you did to fix it. I have a 17'4" Larson SEI that seems to have plenty of open room for me and the wife but has absolutely no storage area for things like life jackets, first aid kit, towels, etc. The only storage at all is in the front V-portion of the boat which is very, very small. I have several ares to put some type of box if I could find something other than a dock box because they love the price on those things.

Thanks in advance for ant ideas.

Re: Storage issues

The problem is its only 17' and its full of furniture.
Then its an inboard so you also have the engine house.
I wear my lifejacket, wish it was one of those self inflaters instead of a cheap bulky orange thingy but ...better on than off.

I think you're limited to under seat compartments or redesign, toss the lounges, install pedestal seats instead, maybe an ice chest etc.

and the bigger versions are no better, 23' bowriders with no room to swing a cat. they just add more plushness , modern boat design is nuts.

PS. I think dock boxes are meant to stay on the dock.:)

I was thinking just like jones, wear you life jackets, then you don't have to store them. But I know what you mean regarding storage. I guess it's something to consider when buying a boat to begin with. But since that ship has sailed, you need to be creative.
Rubbermaid and Sterilite sell plastic totes, that are smaller than a dockbox, but a little bigger than most coolers. Would one of them take up too much room? They will hold a crap ton of towels, as that is what we store our towels in over the winter. The ones we have do not have gasketed lids, though, so they aren't "water tight"

Also, I know there is such a thing as a first aid kit that comes in a plastic box. You could double sided tape that to a smooth bulkhead. And for some reason "I think" there is a first aid kit box, that has screw holes in it, to where it can be mounted on a vertical surface. Check Overton's or maybe even here on iboats for them.
