im looking for ways to keep items stored in my boat. I have lots of places to put small to medium sized containers but I’m not sure how to keep them from sliding around. I am cautious about screwing anything to the floor as the boat I only a year old. I have a 20’ starcraft deckboat. Does anyone have any creative ways to store your stuff and not have it slide all over the place? Am I being to worried about adding tie-down anchors?

thanks for the help

A medium or large cooler held in place with bungee cords work good.....just an old Igloo cooler should work fine....Yeti Coolers way expensive and a target of thieves.....

Take some measurements of your available spaces. Go to your local dollar store or Wallymart, and pick up some stackable, small containers that aren't too prone to tip-over. Grab a roll or three of some non-skid stuff like for drawers. Cut the non-skid to fit the containers, put one under each container, and it won't hurt to put a layer IN the containers. Depending on your space size you can fit 4 or so in a space, far enough apart you can remove them easily, but close enough together they shouldn't slide much even without the non slip. Organized and dry... :)

Tie down as you see fit. Its your boat, Remember to drill your holes, then counter sink the holes slightly and use 3m lifeseal, or 4000 on the screws to seal them from any water leaks. The next owner may use as is, and if you think you will transfer the containers to another boat, you will find they don't fit the new setup.

It's what I have done for the bigger boats. So what if it moves around really, if those $ store boxes are well sealed nothing will break. They have the clamp down plastic boxes now, work great on my 19' StarCraft. I use the 2 Iivewells I don't use for fish as storage and the bow battery box as I don't use the electric trolling motor any longer. I hate seeing stuff laying around the floor of the boat because I know I am going to trip on it and end up in the drink.
