Storing a boat...

I just bought a new house and the wife doesn't want it sitting in the driveway or on the side of the house. So I am wondering if anyone knows of anywhere to park/store my boat on the trailer for a nominal fee. I would like to have access to it pretty much anytime I want to go boating. Any one heard of anything like this in the Twin Cities/Minneapolis area???

Check out your local self storage places. If you are willing to store it outside, many have fenced yards you can store in.

Not a great Idea. The thieves will find a way to steal the prop, the starter, the motor if possible, anything no bolted down. Better off in the yard but thieves can and will steal ya blind!.

Howdy neighbor!

Have you checked with any of the marinas on Lake Minnetonka? I don't know if they do something like that or not. Where do you usually go boating? Might want to check out nearby marinas there also. Will the boat fit in the new garage? If it were me I'd gladly leave my vehicle outside to have my boat inside. Either that, or get a new wife! :p :D

Good luck!

How about a neighbor close by that has room to spare. My next doors neighbors are seniors that don't drive anymore and I give them $20.00 a month to store it there (my driveway is full with 2 vehicles and a utility trailer). I can keep an eye on it and it is there anytime I want it. I also cut their grass and shovel the snow so they don't mind a bit.

You didn't discuss this with her before you bought the house?

There are plenty of places around the metro that will allow you to do this. When I bought my first boat, a pontoon that I trailered, I stored it first at a secured lot close to the lake we frequented. I then stored it at a fenced lot for $25/month. The places are out there you just have to look.

Here is a link to a chain in this area who has secured outdoor storage. Hopkins may be close enough. http://www.minnesotaministorage.com/self_storage/rv_boat_storage.htm
